Manfra Paces Cross Country to Historic NCAA New England Regionals

BRUNSWICK, Maine – Emily Manfra continued to have an impressive senior season to help Suffolk women's cross country to its best-ever showing at the 2019 NCAA DIII New England Regionals Saturday afternoon at Bowdoin.  

Manfra captured 14th overall, not only her best performance, but the best showing of a Rams' runner at the regional race. She had a 6K pace of 5:53.3 had the senior from Stoneham, Massachusetts, clock in 21:47.3 to place inside the Top 15. The showing gave her All-New England honors for the second straight season. She awaits the official release of the NCAA Division III National Championships, which are set to be published this afternoon, to find out if she secured her spot in Louisville, Kentucky at the national championships this weekend.  

Suffolk's 28th performance was the best team showing in its five regional appearances and also topped the GNAC teams – Regis (36th), Emmanuel (37th), Norwich (45th) and Johnson & Wales (52nd) on the course as well.  

Natalie Fay ran in her third regionals (324th, 28:37.2), while Skyler Spanbauer (216th, 25:21.1) and Mai Linh Vankirk (264th, 26:27.1) race at the event for the second time.  

Savannah Goddeeris (171st, 24:31.5), Sarah Lawton (303rd, 27:40.0) and Marin Stamer (186th, 24:49.8) made their regional debuts.
