Women’s Cross Country Captures Battle for Boston Commons

BOSTON – Suffolk women's cross country won the Battle for Boston Common Saturday afternoon, defeating Emerson in a dual race by a convincing 19-36 margin at Franklin Park.  

At the second annual friendly head-to-head match between Boston Common neighbors five Rams finished in the top 10 with all three podium finisher's donning the blue-and-gold to lap the Lions.  

Emily Manfra handled the 12-runner filed with a 5K time of 18:39.0 nearly two minutes than second-place finish Rams' rookie Marin Stamer, who clocked in a 20:47.9. Savannah Goddeeris completed the top three with a time of 21:14.1.  

Skyler Spanbauer's 21.38:3 showing put the sophomore in fifth and Natalie Fay locked up eighth after crossing the line in 22:39.4.  

Sarah Lawton (24:06.8) and Michelle Riley (25:12.6) also ran for the Rams. 

Suffolk now turns its attention to the 2019 GNAC Championships which are set for Saturday, Nov. 2 in Standish, Maine on the SJC Course.
