Cross Country Pair Garners All-Region at NCAA DIII Regionals

BRUNSWICK, Maine – Matyas Csiki-Fejer and Emily Manfra of the Suffolk men's and women's cross country teams, respectively, made program history Saturday afternoon as the duo ran two all-region accolades at the NCAA Division III New England Regionals hosted by Bowdoin. 

On a wet, cold, misting course, the Csiki-Fejer and Manfra each were the top GNAC finishers in their respective fields to be the first-ever Rams to take home regional honors. Csiki-Fejer's honors came as the freshmen put together a 23rd-place showing in the field of 391 with an 8k time of 25:45.72. He anchored the men's team to a 29th place finish in the field of 58.  

Hunter Toyoda (184th – 28:31.61), Jonah Flores (189th – 28:34.96) and Roth Santos (198th - 29:03.51) finished inside the top 200. Kevin Torres (223rd – 29:03.51), Keoni Geers (226th – 29:10.28) and Nick Malm (254th - 29:50.44) also took the course for the Rams.  

Manfra, meanwhile, crossed the women's 6k tape in 22:26.54 to finish 17th out of 399 runners. She awaits final seeding of the National Championships, which will be released tomorrow, Sunday, Nov. 11 by 3 p.m. The junior paced Suffolk to a 32nd place finish as a team.  

Manfra's classmate and co-captain Emma Weisse came through the finishes chute in 23:13.58 to take 57th overall. 

Natalie Fay (321st – 27:39.69) capped off her collegiate cross country career Saturday afternoon, while Meagan Dyer (278th – 26:46.93), Mai Linh Vankirk (282nd – 26:47.64), Skyler Spanbauer (320th – 27:37.94), and Olivia Chilcott (343rd – 28:48.82) all compete at regionals for the first time in their careers.
