Weisse Picks Up Third GNAC Runner of the Week Honor

BOSTON – Emma Weisse of the Suffolk women's cross country team took home her third conference accolade of the season as the junior was named GNAC Runner of the Week thanks to her performance at the Suffolk Invite, the league office announced Monday afternoon. 

Weisse cruised through the 5k course at Franklin Park with the Hampden, Massachusetts, native coming through the finisher's chute in 19:14 to claim individual honors in the 148 runner field. She led the blue-and-gold to a fourth-place showing out of 19 teams and helped the Rams capture the inaugural Battle for Boston Commons, a head-to-head meet with Emerson. 

Suffolk continued the trend of picking up the league's best runner recognition in each week the Rams have been active this season as Weisse has three honors to her credit with her co-captain and classmate Emily Manfra taking home the recognition once. Weisse's third nod this season brings her career weekly awards to five. 

Weisse and the Rams take this weekend off to prepare for the 2018 GNAC Championships, which are set for Saturday, Oct. 27 at SJC Course in Standish, Maine.
