Manfra Takes Home GNAC Runner of the Week

BOSTON – In each week the Suffolk women's cross country team has been active, the GNAC Runner of the Week has donned the Rams' blue-and-gold with Emily Manfra earning the honor Monday afternoon thanks to her record-breaking performance at the 46th Annual UMass Dartmouth Invitational over the weekend.

Manfra put together a program-record and personal-best 5k time of 18:28.75 on the Robert Dowd course. The Stoneham, Massachusetts, product came through the finisher's chute seventh overall in a field of 318, which featured runners from every NCAA Division. Overall her time, which clocked in 1:26 faster than her previous personal record, put her as the first GNAC runner to cross the tape as well.

She became the second member of the Suffolk women's cross country team to be tabbed the league's best over a week as her co-captain Emma Weisse earned the feat the first week out. Throughout Manfra's career she has garnered sixth weekly accolades from the conference.

Manfra and the Rams turn their attention to the Purple Valley Classic hosted by Williams this Saturday, Sept. 22.
