Manfra Sweeps GNAC Corvias Weekly Honors

BOSTON – Emily Manfra of the Suffolk women's cross country team swept the GNAC Corvias weekly honors as the freshman was named both runner and rookie of the week after a top-15 performance at the Codfish Bowl, the conference announced Monday afternoon.

Manfra was one of two Rams to post a sub-20:00.0 mark in the 5k course at Franklin Park to lead Suffolk's squad to a 12th-place showing. The Stoneham, Massachusetts product crossed the finishing tape in 19:57 to place 14th in a field of 206 runners. The under-20 5k is the best performance by a Ram in recent history.

The weekly honor is the second of Manfra's career, after the rookie earned the nod following her first collegiate race, the UNE Invitational.

Suffolk and Manfra return to Franklin Park in two weeks for the Saints Invitational and a head-to-head race with Rivier. The women will take the course Friday, Oct. 14 at 4 p.m.
