Women's XC Finish 2nd at USJ Invitational

The Suffolk University Women's Cross Country team placed second in the USJ Invitational host by Saint Joseph University in Hartford, Connecticut on Saturday afternoon.

Junior Megan Murphy (South Windsor, Conn.) finished with Suffolk's top time as she placed third overall with a time of 23:14 in the 5K race. Suffolk finished with a team total of 57 points.

Senior Kelly Wariwck (Newburyport, Mass.) also placed in the top five as she crossed the finish line at a time of 24:14.

Three other runners placed for Suffolk on the afternoon. Junior Alessandra Quadri (Sudbury, Mass.) came across at a time of 27:55 for a 14th place finish. Sophomore Emily Martel (East Hartland, Conn.) placed 17th at 30:23 and junior Katie Murray (Holden, Mass.) rounded out the field at 18th a time of 30:26.

The host Blue Jays won the race with a team total of 27 points, while Kaneen Gomez-Hixson finished with the best time of 21:35.

Suffolk will be back in action on Saturday as both the men and women travel to Westfield State University.
