BOSTON – Suffolk men's and women's outdoor track & field is set to compete for the Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship this week. Action starts Thursday, April 25 with the steeplechase at Gordon College, before the league meet continues Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27 at Portsmouth High School in Portsmouth, Rhode Island.

COACH'S QUOTE
"It will be a very tight competition for the CCC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championship between us and Endicott," head coach Will Feldman said. "Both teams are the two most complete rosters in the conference. Our (Suffolk) vaulters and throwers have a trued advantage, but Endicott has a stronger group of long and triple jumpers. We're missing some key contributors due to injury, but there's more an enough talent and experience on roster to be able to pull out the win."
Feldman continued, "Our men will bring the same intensity and competitive spirit that they always do despite missing nearly 60 points due to injuries in key spots … We're going to battle for every possible point. We have a bunch of upper classmen who were on our last CCC Championship team (2022), and this meet means everything for them."
RAMS RADER [ MEN ]
- Potential individual champions are Tim Barry (900), Thomas Novy (5k), Joshua Durand (400), Owen Campbell (pole vault).
- Kely Maloney (800), Evan Wright (800), Hayden Green (5k), Cam Fredette (5k), Sean Jacobsen (5k), Joshua Catino (pole vault) and Turner Mitchell (200) all aim to add points to Suffolk's team score.
- Both Rams relay teams, 4x100 and 4x400, have the chance to land atop the podium as well.
SUFFOLK STANDOUTS [ WOMEN ]
- Amanda Walden the reigning two-time champion in both the 100 and 200 looks to threepeat in both events.
- Emily Concepcion, who has rewritten the program's 400 record consistently this year, aims to capture the individual champion in the one lap around the track and place in the 200.
- Freshman JJ Conteh aims to score in both the 100 and 200.
- Suffolk's 100 hurdle record holder Catherine Madden has potential to capture the CCC individual crown in the event.
- Sydney Fogg has been the runner-up in the 1500 twice and looks to win the event for the first time in her collegiate career. The senior aims to place in the 800 as well.
- Sarah Roberts should add points in the 5k.
- Suffolk's pole vaulters, who enter the conference championship as the 19th-best pole vaulting foursome in NCAA Division III, will likely sweep spots 1 through 4.
- Jumpers Catherine Brown (high jump), Sasha Helfgott-Waters (triple jump) and Evelyn Lansing (long jump, high school) each has a chance to add to the Rams team score in their respective events.
- Fielders Olivia Nicholson (javelin), Gracie O'Connell (javelin, discus, hammer), Sharaden Caldwell (discus, hammer), and Divinety Johnson (discus, shotput) all have potential to provide points for Suffolk.
- Both Rams relay teams, 4x100 and 4x400, should win.
HISTORICALLY SPEAKING
- Suffolk began its CCC Championship chase in 2021.
- The men's team garnered the inaugural CCC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championship in 2022, after winning the CCC Invite a year prior in 2021.
- The women's squad has never hoisted the CCC trophy, but the blue-and-gold has improved on its team finish every year it has competed.
