LOWELL, Mass.– Suffolk women's outdoor track & field started 2024 on a high note at the UMass Lowell Invitational Saturday at the Cushing Field Complex. Seven Rams finished in the top 10 with a pair of podium finishes and three personal records rewritten.
RAMS RUNNERS
- Amanda Walden took second in the 100. The senior's time of 12.63 was 16 seconds behind Hartford's Marlina Voker. Kaylie Groom clocked a 13.61 in the event to take 12th.
- Walden wrapped up third in the 200. She was behind two Bowdoin runners in 26.26. Kaylie Groom ran the event as well and finished in 28.57, good for 17th.
- Alyssa Rodriguez made one lap around the track in 1:02.99 to take eighth in the 400.
- The 800 featured Mallory Taylor (2:38.09), Bailey Ford (2:38.82), Shannon Groom (2:46.24) and Jaenelle Bryant (2:56.95). Taylor and Ford finished one after another in eighth and ninth, respectively. Groom locked up 11th and Bryant took 14th.
- Sydney Fogg put together a 4:50.90o to take fifth in the 1500. That event featured Sarah Roberts, as well, who ran to 22nd in 5:17.22.
JUMPERS JIST
- Catherine Brown was the only Rams jumper at the meet in the high jump. She cleared 1.48 meters to capture fourth.
RAMS RECORDS
- Kaylie Groom logged a personal-best 13.61 in the 100.
- Fogg clocked a personal record of 4:50.90 in the 1500.
- Brown notched a career-high 1.48 in the high jump.
YOU'RE NEW HERE
- Taylor, Ford and Bryant all made their outdoor debuts. The trio competed in the same event, the 800.

Suffolk has two events next weekend, April 4-6, the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, Virginia `and the Jim Sheehan Memorial Invite in Fitchburg, Massachusetts.
