BIDDEFORD, Maine – Suffolk women's outdoor track & field received weekly recognition from the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) as Nicole DiBenedetto was named CCC Field Athlete of the Week and the foursome of Lauren Wood, Alyssa Rodriguez, Emily Concepcion and Amanda Walden combined for the Relay Team of the Week for their efforts at the season-opening BSU Bears Invitational over the weekend.
DiBenedetto set a new Rams record in the high jump as she cleared 1.50 meters to place sixth at the meet and land 55th on the NCAA Division III Women's Outdoor Qualifying List.
The quartet of Wood, Rodriguez, Concepcion and Walden combined for a school-record time of 50.54 in the 4x100 to take second in the eight-team field. That mark currently sits 48th on the NCAA Division III Women's Outdoor Qualifying List.
The weekly accolade is the first for DiBenedetto in her outdoor collegiate career, while the relay team is the first Rams' women's squad to take home the distinction.
Suffolk is set for two events this weekend, William & Mary's Colonial Relays Friday, March 31 and Tufts Snowflake Classic Saturday, April 1.
