Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Nab Three More CCC Weekly Awards

CCC RELEASE

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Suffolk women's outdoor track and field's Caitlyn Filloramo and Amanda Walden both received Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) weekly awards for their performances at Saturday's CCC Championship Meet, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Filloramo, who was named both the field athlete and rookie of the week, represented the blue-and-gold for the fifth straight week, earning her sixth and seventh overall weekly awards. The Southport, Connecticut native landed a first-place finish in the hammer throw (46.07-meters), a second place and personal-best performance in the shot put (10.93), and a third-place finish in the discus (32.00-meters). The freshman is the first Ram to capture an individual hammer toss championship, and the first to land on a CCC podium for discus in program history. She sits fourth in the Division III East Region in the hammer throw, 12th in the shot put, and 23rd in the discus.

Walden, the conference's track athlete of the week, was a double-gold recipient at the conference championships over the weekend. She finished first in both the 100 and 200 with regional-qualifying times of 12.76 and 26.43, respectively. Her performances mark the first time a Suffolk track athlete has captured both individual titles in the squad's history. She was also part of the Rams 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams, which both placed fourth, coming in at 52.41 and 4:21.57, respectively.

Suffolk has collected nine weekly accolades from the CCC this season. Filloramo is responsible for all, but two. Fellow field student-athlete Allison Rodrigues owns the other CCC Field Athlete of the Week distinction from April 19, accompanied by Walden's May 2 pair of honors.

Filloramo, Walden, and two of the Rams' relay teams will travel to Lee Track on the campus of Williams College for the Division III New England Regional Championships on May 6-7.
