STANDISH, Maine – Eight Ram of the Suffolk women's outdoor track & field team took their talents to Standish, Maine Saturday to compete at the Monks Invitational at the SJC Athletics Complex. Suffolk student-athletes participated in running, fielding and jumping events in Vacation Land.
Julia Hunt and Isabelle Slocum donned the blue-and-gold in the 100 hurdles. Hunt clocked a 17.65 to take eighth in the 14-hurdler field, while Slocum logged a time of personal-record of 18.37, good for 12th.
Alyssa Rodriguez made her collegiate debut in the 400. The freshman claimed fifth as she made her one lap around the track in 1:06.03. Emily Concepcion was in the 21-runner field as well and earned 11th behind a time of 1:08.18.
Christina Baggit and Daisey Jones competed in the 1500 to round out the Rams runners. Baggitt grabbed 19th (5:50.90) and Jones (6:09.96) earned 26th.
Grace Danehy was the lone Suffolk jumper at St. Joseph's (Maine) Saturday. She cleared 1.42-meters in the high jump to lock up 11th.
Gracie O'Connell was Suffolk's only student-athletes in the field events. She heaved a personal-best 8.34-meter in the shot put, good for 11th in the 32-participant field. The freshman also competed in the javelin (24.07) and discus (23.66).
Suffolk will be back in action this weekend at MIT's Sean Collier Invitational Saturday, April 23.
