Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Claims Fourth at Gordon Invitational

WENHAM, Mass. – Suffolk women's outdoor track & field finished in the middle of the nine-team field at the Gordon Invitational at the Brigham Athletic Complex Saturday afternoon. 

Rams competed across 11 events and finished with 101 team points to take fourth overall. Suffolk sat behind Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) counterparts Endicott (156), University of New England (134) and Gordon (117). The blue-and-gold bested CCC foes Wentworth (9) and Nichols (7). 

Suffolk had standout performances all over, but really shined in all three field events.  

Allison Rodrigues won the javelin with a 30.29-meter throw. Olivia Nicholson was the 15-competitor field runner-up with a personal-best 29.83-meter toss. Gracie O'Connell was just outside the top three in fourth with a career-high 26.69-meter throw. Payton Dockus (14.04) made her outdoor senior debut in the event. 

Rodrigues put together a podium finish in the shot put as well. The senior recorded a 10.22-meter throw good for second in the 21-participant field. O'Connell (7.65) and Lydia Comprosky (7.44) competed in the event as well.  

In the discus, Caitlyn Filloramo placed third with a personal-record 31.48-meter throw. Comprosky (26.05) and Rodrigues (25.97) finished one after another in 14th and 15th, respectively, with O'Connell (21.69) in the field. 

Grace Danehy and Shannon MacArthur jumped to first place in the high jump. The freshmen both cleared 1.45 to top the nine-jumper field. MacArthur's effort was a personal record. Catherine Brown recorded her first collegiate result in the event with a 1.40-meter leap to take seventh.  

Lauren Wood grabbed third in the long jump with a personal-best 4.89-meter jump. Julia Hunt (4.50) and Danehy (4.25) took ninth and 10th, respectively. 

Hunt also represented the Rams in the triple jump. Her three laps combined for a personal-best 9.21.  

MacArthur (30.86) and Emily Concepcion (31.84) both ran the 200 for the first time in their careers. The duo also sprinted the 400. Concepcion clocked a 1:08.68 and MacArthur made her trip around the track in 1:10.01. 

Jocelyn Triscik won the 800 the first time she ran it in her collegiate career. The sophomore crossed the tape in 2:35.95. Katelynn Brunt was just three seconds behind her teammate in 2:38.43, good for second. Therese McKeagney (2:42.38) and Sarah Roberts (2:43.75) claimed fifth and sixth, respectively. 

Brunt and Daisey Jones both represented the Rams in the 1500. Brunt had a top-five finish thanks to a time of 5:17.12. Jones notched a personal-best 6:04.62.

Hunt (17.71) and Isabelle Slocum (18.81) rounded out Suffolk's student-athletes at the event in the 100 hurdles. Both produced personal-bests Saturday. 

Suffolk will continued its 2022 spring season next weekend at the Penmen Relays Saturday, April 16.
