Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Takes Third at Regis Spring Invite

WESTON, Mass. – Suffolk women's outdoor track & field claimed third place at the Regis Spring Invite Friday afternoon. 

The Rams won five events and had three additional podium finishes for 83 points to sit behind event host and winner Regis (166) and Emmanuel (99). 

Suffolk's sprinters captured first in the 100, 200 and 400.  

The pair of Rams that competed in the 100 and 200 all produced personal bests. In the 100, Lauren Wood's time of 13.36 won the 21-runner field that also featured Isabelle Slocum. Slocum's time of 15.33 was good for 14th. Amanda Walden topped the 200 as she finished the half lap in 26.81. Alyssa Rodriguez finished in the top 10 as well with an eighth-place showing behind a time of 29.10.

Jocelyn Triscik ran one lap around the track in 1:03.90 to capture first in the 13-runner 400 field.  

Suffolk's long-distance runners all competed in the same event, the 1500. The trio of Sarah RobertsTherese McKeagney and Christina Baggit all had top-10 finishes behind personal-records. Roberts recorded a 5:29.13 to take fourth, McKeagney logged a 5:45.13 to claim ninth and Baggitt was right behind her in 10th with a time of 5:50.17.  

To round out the Rams' runners, Emily Concepcion, Walden, Wood and Rodriguez joined forces for a first-place performance in the 4x100 relay. The underclassmen foursome combined for a time of 53.14 to wrap up first.  

Nicole DiBenedetto was the only blue-and-gold jumper at the event. The sophomore finished third after clearing 1.42 meters.  

Caitlyn Filloramo highlighted Suffolk's field athletes. The freshman finished first in the hammer throw with an outdoor persona-record of 47.74-meter toss. Gracie O'Connell joined her classmate in the event and claimed 10th with a 24.56-meter throw. 

Filloramo and O'Connell participated in the discus as well. Filloramo, who competed in the even for the first time in her outdoor career, was just outside the podium with a fourth-place performance of 28.20 meters. O'Connell once again took 10th with a 25.17-meter throw, while Lydia Comprosky's 23.48 toss was good for 14th. 

Nicholson and O'Connell joined Allison Rodrigues in the javelin. Rodrigues registered a 31.56 throw to claim second. Nicholson was right on her heels with a 28.71-meter toss for third and O'Connell took sixth behind a 25.23-meter effort.  

Rodrigues and Comprosky also competed in the shot put. Rodrigues (9.99m) finished fourth and Comprosky (7.57m) sealed 20th.  

Suffolk's hectic weekend continues tomorrow, Saturday, April 9 at the Gordon Invitational.
