SOMERVILLE, Mass. – Suffolk women's outdoor track & field team compiled its first team result of the 2022 season as the Rams captured 10th at the Tufts Snowflake Classic Saturday at Dussault Track.
Twenty Rams combined for 22 points to take 10th in the 18-team field that featured the blue-and-gold Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) counterparts Endicott (ninth), Gordon (10), and the University of New England (12th).
Suffolk's fielders put the blue-and-gold on the map. Caitlyn Filloramo had a pair of podium finishes. The freshman qualified for regionals in the hammer throw behind a toss of 43.98, good for second in the 26-competitior field. She took third in the shot put with a 9.84-meter throw.
Gracie O'Connell (25.43) joined her classmate in the hammer throw, while Allison Rodrigues (11.50) and Lydia Comprosky (7.73) participated in the shot put alongside Filloramo.
Rodrigues recorded a third-place finish in the javelin with a toss of 30.68. That showing sits second in the CCC in 2022.
O'Connell (25.77), Comprosky (24.84) and Michelle Riley (24.56) rounded out the fielding Rams in the discus.
A trio of Suffolk student-athletes participated in the jumping event. Lauren Wood tried her hand in the long jump, Grace Danehy competed in the high jump, while Nicole DiBenedetto took part in the high jump and triple jump.
Running wise, Suffolk sent sprinters and long-distance runners to Somerville Saturday.
Shannon MacArthur (1:08.06) and Emily Concepcion (1:08.76) made one lap around the track in the 400, while Therese McKeagney (2:41.99) trucked around the track twice in the 800.
Katelynn Brunt (5:21.72), Sarah Roberts (5:49.96) and Daisey Jones (6:10.21) raced in the 1500. Skyler Spanbauer sealed a personal-best 19:08.19 in the 5000.
Isabelle Slocum (20.84) donned the blue-and-gold in the 100 hurdles.
The foursome of Concepcion, Amanda Walden, Jocelyn Triscik and Alyssa Rodriguez combined as Suffolk's 4x100 relay team.
Suffolk will be back in action next weekend at Regis' Spring Invite Friday, April 8 followed by Fitchburg State's Jim Sheehan Invite Saturday, April 9.
