Women’s Track & Field Runs at Sean Collier Invitational

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – A pair of Suffolk women's outdoor track & field student-athletes earned their place at the 2019 NCAA Division III New England Championships behind stand-out performances at MIT's Sean Collier Invitational Saturday afternoon at Morrison Track. Freshman Allison Rodrigues qualified in the shot put and junior Mariama Kamara sealed her spot in the 100-meter dash.  

Rodrigues won the shot put, a field of 26, with a toss of 11.39 meters to earn her place among the regional best next month. She also competed in the discus, where she finished third out of 20 with a throw of 32.64 meters, and the javelin, in which she claimed fourth with a 32.98-meter performance.  

Savannah Hunter joined Rodrigues in a pair of fielding events; the shot put (9.40 M) and the discus (28.38 M). She took eighth in the discus and 10th in the javelin.  

Kamara earned her spot in the New England's after running the 100-meter in 12.70, good for sixth in the 30-runner field. Payton Dockus also ran the100-meter.  

A pair of Rams' runners took the 200-meter course in Grace Scholz (29.12) and Dahkensey Marcellus (29.37), while Megan Qualters did a full lap around the track in the 400-meter run (1:09.17).  

Suffolk's long-distance runners, Olivia Chilcott (5:22.52), Natalie Fay (5:50.07) and Skyler Spanbauer (5:58.31), all participated in the 1500.  

Julia Hunt wore the blue-and-gold in the 100-meter hurdles and claimed eighth with a 17.28 performance. Julianna Trost rounded out the Rams' runners in the 400-meter hurdles in which she finished in 1:19.57.  

Suffolk will look to grab GNAC glory in the upcoming 2019 conference championships Sunday, April 28 at Regis.
