Josh Brodin, who volunteered with the Rams in 2018, began his first official season, second overall, in 2019 and is set for his third year as an assistant coach on Will Feldman’s staff in 2020.
Brodin brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to Feldman’s staff after running 11 seasons at WPI on the Engineers’ cross country and indoor and outdoor track & field teams.
Working with long-distance runners, Brodin has aided the program’s to not only conference and regional success, but national level recognition as well. He has helped three Rams qualify for NCAAs across cross country and indoor and outdoor track & field seven times headlined by Emily Manfra’s five trips.
Award wise, Brodin has coached the program’s first-ever All-American in Manfra, who garnered the nod as a junior and repeated the distinction as a senior in 2020. He has led seven all-region honorees, and 18 all-league selections highlighted by three GNAC Runners of the Year, a pair of GNAC Track Athletes of the Year, and four GNAC Rookies of the Year.
The athletic success has mirrored the academic accolades with the Rams achieving USTFCCCA Team awards in each season with Brodin on staff (2018 & 2019) and three student-athletes picking up five individual honors from the national organization for their work in the classroom as well. Additionally, Manfra and Csiki-Fejer were each recognized as CoSIDA Academic All-Americans. Manfra is a two-time honoree (2018-19, 2019-20), while Csiki-Fejer has one nod (2019-20) to his credit.
Brodin can also add the distinction of coaching Suffolk’s first-ever GNAC Women of the Year on his resume as Emily Manfra collected the honor and became the conference’s nominee for NCAA Women of the Year consideration in 2019-20.
Since graduating from WPI in 2013 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering, he has competed with Greater Boston Track Club for the past five years.
