BOSTON – Suffolk women's indoor track and field athletes competed for the second time in six days as the Rams headed across town to the John Thomas Classic at the Track and Tennis Center on the campus of Boston University on Friday. The day proved to be important for Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) standings as many runners boosted their times on the season.
Amanda Walden ran her first 400 of the season with a time of 1:04.71, good for 63rd place, while her classmate Alicia Bibi was right on her heels with a time of 1:06.19. The sophomores now hold the third and fourth-best times, respectively, in the GNAC in the 400 this season. The Rams now own the top four spots in the GNAC in the 400m with Jocelyn Trisciak and Emily Concepcion just above the duo.
Trisciak (2:37.02) and Christina Baggit (2:37.04) finished back-to-back in the 800, finishing 66th and 67th, respectively.
Skyler Spanbauer broke her previous personal-best in the mile by twenty seconds, racing to a time of 5:40.74.
Freshman Gwen Koziara ran her first ever collegiate indoor 3K and wasted no time as she recorded a time of 10:50.54, good for the top time in the GNAC, which complements her top time in the 5K.
Catherine Madden had a season-best in the hurdles with a time of 10.58.
Both Klaudia Rushi and Alyssa Rodriguez competed in the 200 for the Rams.
The blue-and-gold will be back in at Boston University's Tennis and Track Center for the Bruce Lehane Scarlet & White Invite next Saturday, Feb. 5.
