Filloramo Named GNAC Field and Rookie of the Week

GNAC RELEASE

WALTHAM, Mass. – Caitlyn Filloramo of the Suffolk women's indoor track & field team was tabbed the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Field and Rookie of the Week following her performance at USM's COVID Catch Up, the league office announced Monday.

Filloramo won the weight throw with a toss of 12.89 meters to top the 16-person field. That performance is the best by a student-athlete in the GNAC this season. The Southport, Connecticut local also finished fourth in the shot put with a 9.77-meter throw. She was the best rookie in the 22-person field.

The weekly accolades bring Filloramo's season total to three as she was named the league's best field athlete over a seven-day stretch Dec. 14. In addition to Filloramo's award haul, Julia Leavey garnered GNAC Rookie of the Week Dec. 14 to bring the Rams season total to four weekly awards.

Filloramo and the Rams will be back in action this weekend when they compete at Tufts' Branwen Smith-King Invitational Saturday, Jan. 29. Suffolk's sprinters and long distance runners, meanwhile, will participate across town at Boston University's John Thomas Terrier Classic Friday, Jan. 28.
