NEW ORLEANS – For the second straight season, Suffolk women's track & field was rewarded for its academic excellence as the team earned a spot on the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Team, while Emily Manfra was tabbed an All-Academic Athlete, the national organization released Thursday afternoon.

Manfra, who has spearheaded Suffolk's success both in competition and the classroom, received her second individual academic nod from USTFCCCA for track & field.

To be considered, a student-athlete must boast a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale through the most recent grading period and be one of the top 50 individuals or on one of the top 35 relay teams, as listed on the descending order lists of TFRRS, or qualified for the Indoor National Championships.

Manfra, who graduated in May with a degree in Biology and an impressive 3.99 GPA, checked off the second requirement by punching her third consecutive ticket to indoor NCAAs in the mile behind the second-best time in New England and fifth fastest performance in Division III.

The Stoneham, Massachusetts product was one of 477 women from 123 institutions recognized and the only student-athlete from both the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) and the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), which the Rams will compete in in 2020-21.

The captain anchored Suffolk's women's track & field to a cumulative 3.56 grade point average, which sat 66th best of the 209 different programs honored.

For a team to be considered, a squad must combine for a cumulative grade point average of a 3.1 on a 4.0 score through the most semester/quarter with no athletic requirement.

Suffolk was one of two GNAC teams to pick up the nod along with Colby Sawyer, while Endicott, Gordon and Salve Regina represented the CCC.
