NEW ORLEANS – Emily Manfra of the Suffolk women's indoor track & field team was announced as an all-region honoree for the 2020 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field season by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Manfra made the list in the mile in New England. The senior captain is the lone GNAC student-athlete to earn the recognition. The accolade is the first for the Stoneham, Massachusetts, native, who is the first Suffolk student-athlete to take home the feat in program history.
To earn all-region honors, an athlete must be one of the top-5 individuals in their event in their respective region on the TFRRS Descending Order List.
A total of 1595 athletes from 200 different institutions earned all-region honors nationwide with 805 honors going to the men and ad addition 790 to the women.
Manfra had the second-best time in New England in the mile with a time of 4:57.46, which came at Boston University's John Thomas Terrier Classic Jan. 24, 2020. That performance, which was the fourth-best time in the nation, put her in the field for the 2020 NCAA DIII Indoor Track & Field Championships, which were set to get underway March 13
