Pair of Rams Qualify for New Englands at Tufts Invite

MEDFORD, Mass. – Emily Manfra and Emma Weisse of the Suffolk women's indoor track & field team each punched their tickets to the NCAA New England Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships Saturday afternoon with top performances at the Tufts Invite.

Weisse won the 1000M with the Hampden, Massachusetts, product crossing the tape in 3:11.72, nearly two seconds ahead of second-place finisher Lynne Hebert of Keene State to lock up her spot at New Englands. Manfra, meanwhile, shaved 13 seconds off her personal record and finished the mile with a time of 5:22.91 to qualify for New Englands.

Mariama Kamara's 60M time of 8.25 fell just short of the 8.20 qualifying time as the sophomore from Chelsea, Massachusets placed second overall in a field of 30.

Dakhensey Marcellus rounded out the Rams' runners with the rookie taking the field in the 200 M.

Suffolk is back in action Saturday, Jan. 20 when it travels to Plymouth State for the Panther Invitational.
