CNE RELEASE | Suffolk's All-Time Honors & Awards
BEVERLY, Mass. – Caren Urbano of the Suffolk women's tennis team was named to the Conference of New England (CNE) Singles Second-Team, the league office unveiled Tuesday morning.
The all-conference accolade is the third of the captain's career and in as many seasons. The Rams' ace repeats with a spot on the singles second-team after garnering a third-team singles recognition in 2022.
Urbano is the most decorated Suffolk women's tennis student-athlete in the CNE era. It is the most all-league singles selections for a Rams since Aidiana Sagyndykova earned four from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) from 2013-16.
A staple as the Rams top single racquet throughout her collegiate career, Urbano compiled a 3-7 overall record and went 2-4 versus CNE counterparts.
The Orlando, Florida, native helped push the blue-and-gold to the program's first-ever trip to the CNE postseason and first conference tournament appearance since 2018.
New this season is the CNE Community Service Team presented to the student-athlete on each squad that demonstrates a commitment to their community. Suffolk's representative was freshman Aastha Shah.
Since joining the CCC in 2020, Suffolk has garnered six all-conference awards -- pair of CCC Scholar-Athletes in Ilda Ascic (2021) and Bianca Prescott (2022), and four singles all-conference players in Sarah Mezini (first-team; 2021) and Urbano (second-team; 2023, 2024 and third-team; 2022).
Suffolk is back in action this afternoon when the sixth seeded Rams compete at third seed Endicott in the CNE First Round at 2:00 p.m.
