BOSTON – Suffolk women's tennis gets its October portion of its schedule underway Tuesday, Oct. 1 when Nichols comes to The Rivers School for a 3:30 p.m. first serve.

Suffolk women's tennis fell to Nichols, 7-0, in Conference of New England (CNE) action Tuesday afternoon at The Weston School.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk has yet to find the win column this season as it sits 0-7 overall and 0-5 in CNE contests.  

Caren Urbano (1-6) and Megha Tenneti (0-7) have been staples as the Rams top two singles racquets and the top doubles tandem (0-7). Elene Nishniandize is the most successful blue-and-gold singles player at 2-5 on courts five (0-1) and six (2-4). The twosome of Nia Bebb and Rachel Hill sport the best doubles mark with a 3-3 ledger exclusively in the second spot.  

SHARKS SAYINGS
Simmons slipped versus Wheaton, 4-3, to move to 6-5 on the season. 

Masha Shutts has played every match as the Sharks' ace. She is 9-2 on the year along with Emilie Lapointe, who has played every contest in the second singles slot. Shutts and Lapointe have combined forces as Simmons top doubles pair and are 7-3 on the year.

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk and Simmons will meet for the 29th time Friday. 
  • The Rams are 3-25 all-time against the Sharks. 
  • The Sharks have taken the last two duals by 6-3 margins. 
  • The Rams last win over the Sharks came via a 7-2 score Oct. 13, 2018.  

GET TO KNOW THE GOLDEN BEARS
Western New England has fallen in five straight contests to sit 2-5 overall and 0-4 in CNE outings. The Golden Bears pair of victories came to open the season at Lesley (4-3) and Vermont State – Johnson (7-0).  

Emma Miller has seen the most time on the first singles court and is 2-4 overall. Gianna Ararce, who has seen time on the fifth (2-3) and sixth (1-0) court, is the winningest singles player at 3-3. Gabrielle Tirkot is also 2-4 in singles play with time on courts four (2-2) and five (0-2). 

Different combinations of Sydney Shepard, Catie Seklecki and Malina Minis have teamed up as the Golden Bears No. 1 doubles team. 

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Since 2005, Suffolk sits 0-6 all-time against Western New England. 
  • Suffolk slipped to WNE by a 6-2 margin last season, Oct. 3, 2023. 
  • Suffolk is 0-4 at WNE and will play in Springfield, Massachusetts for the third straight season. 
  • There has been one shutout in the series. The 9-0 triumph belongs to the Golden Bears and came Sept. 16, 2006.
