Women’s Tennis Sees Four Pick Up CSC Academic All-District

CSC RELEASE

BOSTON – Four members of Suffolk women's tennis took home College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District distinction in seniors Barbara Consales and Bianca Prescott, junior Caren Urbano and sophomore Rachel Hill, the national organization announced Tuesday.

Awarded by CSC, formerly known as College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), to the most accomplished student-athletes for combined academic and athletic achievements each year since 1952, this is the longest-running and most prestigious academic and athletic award for student-athletes to receive.

The 2023 Academic All-District Women's Tennis Team, selected by CSC, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. All nominees must have a GPA of at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), be a starter or important reserve, and have competed in at least 50 percent of a team's competition.

In the first year that men's and women's tennis was voted on in its own category, rather than the at-large umbrella, Suffolk women's tennis saw the maximum number of student-athletes (4) receive the recognition. The quartet is the first member of the Rams' women's tennis program to take home such distinction.

With the addition of Consales (3.903 GPA), Hill (3.894 GPA), Prescott (3.916 GPA) and Urbano (3.625 GPA), Suffolk now has 47 academic all-district accolades in its history from the CSC dating back to 2004, 36 of which have come over the last seven seasons including 23 in 2022-23 alone.

Suffolk was one of two Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) members to see the maximum number of student-athletes pick up the honor alongside Nichols. In addition to the Rams and Bison, Roger Williams (3), Endicott (2), Curry (2) and Gordon (2) were featured on the list of 541 NCAA Division III student-athletes.

All four Rams now advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced June 1. For a full list of CSC Academic All-District teams, click here.
