WENHAM, Mass. – Suffolk women's tennis came out on the wrong side of a 5-4 thriller as Gordon took down the Rams in Commonwealth Coast Conference play at the Brigham Athletic Complex Tuesday night. 

THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk fell behind 2-0 as the Fighting Scots captured the first and second doubles courts. Barbara Consales and Angela Gross partnered up for the first time this season and it proved to work. The senior and junior combined forces for an 8-5 victor over Allyson Fournier and Amanda Moraes on the third doubles court to make it a 2-1 match as the action transitioned into singles play.  

Similar to doubles play, Gordon grabbed the first two points in singles with wins at one and two, respectively. 

Once again Gross' racquet factored in as she defeated Madison Kooyman, 6-1, 6-2, in the sixth slot to keep the Rams hopes alive. 

Rachel Hill and Bianca Prescott followed suit with victories on their courts. Hill grabbed a 6-4, 6-3 triumph over Caroline Helmer at No. 3, while Prescott defeated Allyson Fournier, 6-4, 7-6 (3). Prescott's tiebreaker win leveled the playing field at 4-all.  

Everything would come down to court four where Alyssa Blade tangled with Hannah Hovda. Suffolk's senior captain grabbed the first game, 6-3, however Hovda took the second, 6-2. The match was on the line and the Fighting Scot prevailed, 10-6, for the 5-4 final in Gordon's favor.

NOTEWORTHY

• The match between Suffolk and Gordon was decided via a 5-4 score for the first time. 
• Gross won her first collegiate singles match. 
• Consales and Gross partnered in doubles play for the first time. The twosome is unbeaten, 1-0.
