Women’s Tennis Snipes USJCT on Senior Day

BOSTON – In its regular season home finale, the Suffolk women's tennis team defeated St. Joseph (Conn.), 7-2, on Senior Day at Buckingham, Browne & Nichols Monday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk swept doubles action and two graduating Rams, who were honored prior to first serve, quickly clinched the victory with wins on the first and second courts, respectively. The Blue Jays two victories came on single courts three and five. 

SUFFOLK STANDOUTS

  • Christina Texidor and Eugenia Skorobogatov put together a golden match over Leah Nguyen and Domonique Carnot in the third doubles position to put Suffolk on the scoreboard.
  • Aidiana Sagyndykova and Valentina Medina teamed up for an 8-1 triumph on court one against Rebecca Mauri and Lucy Roberge.
  • In the second slot, Isabel Rathlev and Elena Cisneros Garcia battled to a 9-7 triumph over Sakinah Abdulsalam and Ashley Savino.
  • Sagyndykova defeated Mauri, 6-4, 6-0, as Suffolk's ace to set up match point.
  • Medina clinched the win with a golden match over Robert in the second spot.
  • Jacquelyn Nakamura bested Nguyen, 6-1, 6-4, in the sixth slot to make it a 6-0 Suffolk match.
  • Danlyn Medou picked up the Rams' final win as the freshman notched a 6-3, 6-1 decision over Savino at No. 4. 

NOTABLES

  • Suffolk won its fifth straight match marking the longest win streak of the season and matching a stretch of five consecutive victories, which closed out the 2015 regular season.

Suffolk closes out the regular season on the road. First the Rams will stop by UMass Dartmouth Thursday, Oct. 13, before wrapping up its conference slate at Mount Ida Saturday, Oct. 15.
