Medina Grabs GNAC Corvias Player of the Week

BOSTON – Valentina Medina of the Suffolk women's tennis team earned her third GNAC Corvias Player of the Week honor of the season after a 4-0 individual week the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Medina once again went perfect in dual play as the junior won both matches in singles and doubles play against Springfield and Albertus Magnus. She dominated the Pride's ace, 6-1, 6-0, after notching an 8-3 doubles victory with Isabel Rathlev over Springfield's top tandem. In conference action against the Falcons, she and Rathlev defeated Albertus Magnus' No. 1 pair, 8-1, and went on for a golden match second spot victory in singles play (6-0, 6-0).

Overall, Medina is 25-1 in singles play and a perfect 25-0 in dual action in the first and second positions. The weekly award is added to her growing list, which includes six conference rookie of the week honors and two ECAC Rookie of the Month accolades.

Medina and Suffolk return to action tonight at Buckingham, Browne & Nichols against Lesley. First serve is slated for 6 p.m.
