Women’s Tennis Sweeps Albertus Magnus

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Suffolk women's tennis team picked up its first GNAC win of the season in sweeping fashion yesterday as the Rams blanked Albertus Magnus, 9-0, at Buckingham, Browne & Nichols.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk posted convincing double victories winning the second spot in a golden match and taking courts one and three 8-1, respectively, to leap ahead 3-0. Singles play was not much different, as the Rams took every single match in straight sets, including golden matches at one and two to lock up the 9-0 victory. 

SUFFOLK STANDOUTS

  • Aidiana Sagyndykova and Elena Cisneros Garcia made a powerful 8-0 statement against Kelsea Wildman and Paige Williams in the second doubles spot. 
  • The Rams' tandems Valentina Medina and Isabel Rathlev at No. 1 and Meagan French and Christian Texidor at No. 3 secured 8-1 doubles victories. 
  • Sagyndykova and Medina each posted golden matches in singles. Sagyndykova defeated Zaidia Velazco as Suffolk's ace, while Medina downed Alicia Weaver in the send slot. 
  • Danlyn Medou and Christian Texidor each posted a golden set in singles play. On the fourth court, Medou bested Nallely Magana, 6-0, 6-1. Texidor defeated Dayanlee Quezada-Coe, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 6. 
  • Rathlev took down Kelsea Wildman by a 6-1, 6-1 decision on the third court. 
  • French wrapped up singles competition with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Williams.
