Women’s Tennis Edged at Bridgewater State, 5-4

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – For the second straight match, the Suffolk women's tennis team landed on the wrong side of a 5-4 decision as the Rams were bested by the Bears of Bridgewater State at the Rosen Memorial Tennis Courts Thursday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The team's split the six singles flights and Bridgewater used its two doubles victories edge to capture the win. 

SUFFOLK STANDOUTS

  • The Rams co-captains and top players this season partnered up in doubles action for the first time. Aidiana Sagyndykova and Valentina Medina locked up the Rams' lone doubles win with an 8-1 showing over Alisha Silva and Alison Scagnelli.
  • Medina tied the match with her fifth singles triumph of the season as the junior's collegiate ledger did not falter. Taking the role as Suffolk's ace, Medina lost just one single point to Silva, defeating the Bear 6-1, 6-0.
  • Danlyn Medou tied the match once again at 3-3 with a victory on court five. Medou downed Rachel Tarantino with a golden set (6-0) followed by a 6-2 decision.
  • Jacquelyn Nakamura secured Suffolk's final victory and leveled the playing field for the final time at 4-all. The junior bested Angelique Gray, 6-4, 6-3 at No. 6.
  • With the match on the line, Isabel Rathlev forced a third set on the third court with Scagnelli. Rathlev could not hold off the Bear, however, as she fell, 6-0, 3-6, 10-6, and Bridgewater locked up the win.
