Medina Named ECAC Corvias Rookie of the Month, Again

DANBURY, Conn. – Awards continue to pour in for Suffolk women's tennis sophomore Valentina Medina as the ECAC named her Rookie of the Month for October the league office announced Thursday afternoon.

After a perfect performance in September, which was awarded with her first rookie of the month accolades from the ECAC, Medina followed with another flawless showing in singles play. As the Rams' ace she produced a 2-0 record and went 5-0 in the single slot including 11 golden sets and four-consecutive golden matches from Oct. 1 against Springfield through Oct. 12 versus Albertus Magnus. The San Andres, Colombia native finished her first year of competition with a 15-0 mark on the singles court.

Her precision carried into doubles play as she went nearly seamless with a partner dropping just one match.

Medina, who earned a spot on the All-GNAC Tournament Team and is a six-time GNAC Corvias Rookie of the Week, became just the third player in Suffolk history to be named the GNAC Rookie of the Year for her thrilling efforts.
