NEWTON, Mass. – The Suffolk women's tennis team sealed a solo second-place finish in the final GNAC standings, as the Rams swept Mount Ida, 9-0, Sunday afternoon.

The win marks Suffolk's fifth straight, marking the longest win streak for the blue-and-gold since the Rams strung together six from Sept. 30 to Oct. 20, 2010. Suffolk, now 10-4 overall and 5-1 in the GNAC, is the winningest squad since the 2007 Rams went undefeated, 14-0, in the regular season en route to the GNAC title.

Suffolk's cleansheet was earned with four golden matches and just two games lost. Abby Trigilio and Isabel Rathlev got things going with an 8-0 victory over Yuliana Chairez and Danielle Barnabe in the second doubles slot. Valentina Medina and Rebecca Eshoo quickly followed as the sophomore and senior took down Rebecca Levy and Mackenzie Bumpus, 8-1. 

The Rams' racquets did not skip a beat on the singles courts as Rathlev notched the first golden match of the afternoon in the third position over Chariez. Jacquelyn Nakamura defeated Barnabe, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 4, before Medina notched her seventh golden match of 2015 and fifth straight, as the San Andres, Colombia product bested Levy. 

Elena Cisneros wrapped up competition with a golden match against Bumpus playing at No. 2. 

As the tournament's second-seed, Suffolk drew a bye and will take on the winner of sixth-seeded Mount Ida and third-seeded Johnson & Wales Saturday, Oct. 24 at 4:30 p.m. First-round action will take place Wednesday, Oct. 21 at the higher seed's school.
