Medina Picks up Fifth GNAC Corvias Rookie of the Week Nod

BOSTON – For the fifth time this season and fourth time in as many weeks, Valentina Medina of the Suffolk women's tennis team was named GNAC Corvias Rookie of the Week the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Medina has now been tabbed the best rookie over a seven day stretch in five of the six weeks of action this season to become the first GNAC to be named Rookie of the Week five times in one season since Simmons' Han DK Le accomplished the feat a year ago.

The San Andres, Colombia product had another perfect week going 2-0 in singles play and 2-0 in doubles action to increase her overall records to 11-0 and 10-1, respectively.

To open the week against Anna Maria, Medina teamed with Abby Trigilio for a golden match on the second doubles court. She followed that performance with a golden singles match against the AMCATS' Nicole Zamira.

At Johnson & Wales Saturday, Medina and Trigilio downed their opponents, 8-2, before Medina notched her fourth singles golden match of the season and second of the week when she swept Emily Glass.

Medina and the Rams are back in action Monday afternoon at Albertus Magnus.
