Medina Tabbed Corvias ECAC Women’s Tennis Co-Rookie of the Month

DANBURY, Conn. – For her tremendous collegiate start, Valentina Medina added another award to her resume as she was tabbed Corvias ECAC Women's Tennis Division III Co-Rookie of the Month the conference announced yesterday afternoon. Medina shares the honor with Kelli Ryan of Hartwick College.

Suffolk took to the court eight times in September and every time out Medina was victorious, playing to undefeated 8-0 records in singles and doubles action. Impressively, she did so while only dropping one set in singles play, winning all but one match in straight sets and in the first and second slots in the line-up.

The first month of action also saw Medina record two golden matches and she only gave up 10 singles games through the first three weeks of play. The San Andres, Colombia native helped the Rams to a 5-3 overall record and 1-1 mark in GNAC play, the best September results since matching those results in 2009.

For her undefeated play, Medina has been named GNAC Corvias Rookie of the Week four of the five weeks including three straight honors.

Medina and the Rams return to action tonight when they host Anna Maria at Buckingham, Browne & Nichols at 6 p.m.
