Women’s Tennis Stumps Lesley, 9-0

BOSTON – For the first time since 2009, the Suffolk women's tennis team opened its season 2-0 after sweeping Lesley, 9-0, Saturday afternoon at Buckingham, Browne & Nichols.

The cleansheet combined with a 5-4 victory over Bridgewater State Thursday night has the Rams undefeated to open their 2015 season. Lesley, meanwhile, dipped to 0-1 with the setback.

In doubles action, Aidiana Sagyndykova and Valentina Medina raced out to an early lead en route to an 8-1 victory over Caroline Kiddie and Frances Deleon at No. 1. Isabel Rathlev and Jacquelyn Nakamura followed with an identical score of Theresa Pereira and Rose Heller in the second slot. The Rams earned the third doubles point due to forfeit.

Medina made her debut as Suffolk's ace with a decisive 6-3, 6-0, triumph over Kiddie.

On the second and third singles courts Suffolk won by identical scores of 6-1, 6-0. Sagyndykova took down Deleon in the second spot, while Abby Trigilio defeat Pereira.

Suffolk continued its dominance on courts four and five with 6-0, 6-0 scores. Lindsey Reese stormed past Heller in the fourth positon and Meghan French beat Courtney Goggin at No. 5.

The Rams earned the third doubles point and sixth singles point due to forfeits by Lynx for the 9-0 win.

Suffolk heads out on the road for the first time this season Tuesday, Sept. 8 when it makes the trip to Providence for a match at Rhode Island College.
