Women’s Tennis Picked Third in GNAC Preseason Poll

BOSTON – After reaching the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) semifinals in 2014, the Suffolk women's tennis team was predicted to finish third in the preseason poll according to a vote of the league's seven head coaches, the GNAC announced Friday.

With eight straight conference crowns already on its resume, Simmons was the unanimous favorite to once again claim the title. The 2014 conference runner-up Johnson & Wales edged Suffolk in second place with 40 points while the Rams fell in third with 37. The University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) is predicted to finish fourth, followed by Anna Maria , Mount Ida and Albertus Magnus rounds out the seven-team poll.

The Rams return eight letterwinners, including Aidiana Sagyndykova, the reigning GNAC Player of the Year and first-team all-conference selection, and Rebecca Eshoo, a second-team all-conference honoree. Suffolk will open the 2015 ledger on Thursday, Sept. 3 when it hosts Bridgewater State at Buckingham, Browne & Nichols at 6 p.m.
