Women's Tennis Season Comes to Close with 5-2 Setback

The Suffolk University Women's Tennis team had their 2014 season come to a close on Saturday as they suffered a 5-2 setback in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament.

The third seeded Rams were defeated by number two seed Johnson & Wales University for the second time this season.

Suffolk earned one victory in doubles play as juniors Rebecca Eshoo (Farmington, Conn.) and Abby Trigilio (Ipswich, Mass.) took a 7-3 tiebreaker in the number two partners game. The victory moved the tandem to a 7-3 overall record on the 2014 season.

Sophomore Aidiana Sagyndykova (Almaty, Kazakhstan) was Suffolk's other victor on the evening as she added to her 13 game winning streak taking the top singles game. Sagyndykova was victorious in straight sets with scores of 6-1 and 6-4 to close out the season with a 13-1 overall record.

Suffolk finishes the 2014 season with an 8-7 overall record. They entered the six team tournament with the league's third best record at 4-2 in GNAC play.
