Women's Tennis Make It Four In a Row

The Suffolk University Women's Tennis team extended their winning streak to four games with a 9-0 shutout over Albertus Magnus College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Wednesday evening.

A total of nine different players earned victories on the scoresheet for Suffolk between singles and doubles play combined three; sophomore Aidiana Sagyndykova (Almaty, Kazakhstan), senior Adrianna Garrett (Plymouth, Mass.) and junior Rebecca Eshoo (Farmington, Conn.) were multiple winners on the evening.

Suffolk opened the night taking all three doubles contests. Sagyndykova and Garrett were the winners in the top partners game with an 8-1 victory. Eshoo partnered with freshman Johanna Sitahal (Port of Spain, Trinidad) for an 8-1 victory while freshmen Isabel Rathlev (Wellesley, Mass.) and Jacquelina Nakamura (Rancho Sante Fe, Calif.) combined for their fourth win as a tandem on the season with an 8-0 win in the third game.

Sagyndykova picked up her sixth victory of the season as Suffolk's number one singles player as she defeated the Falcons' sophomore Zaida Velazco (Santa Domingo, Dominican Republic) by 6-2, 6-0 scores.

Garrett was a winner 6-3, 6-0 in the second game over senior Malika Grant (Brooklyn, N.Y.). Eshoo took game number three in straight 6-0 sets over freshman Kelsea Wildman (Hamden, Conn.).

In the fourth individual game, junior Lyndsay Reese (Saco, Me.) was victorious winning 6-1, 6-0 with junior Anna Gleason (Plymouth, Mass.) winning the fifth match by consecutive 6-0 scores.

Freshman Allysa Graham (Plymouth, Mass.) earned her first career collegiate victory in game number six when she topped freshman Shamain McAllister (Irvington, N.J.) 6-0, 6-1.

Albertus falls to 2-4 on the season and 0-1 in conference play. They'll be back on the courts on Saturday afternoon when they host Anna Maria College in GNAC action beginning at 1:00pm.

Suffolk will look to extend their winning streak when they play Springfield College on Thursday evening, the third match in as many days at B,B & N beginning at 5:30pm.
