Women's Tennis Top Blue Jays 7-2 In GNAC Action

The Suffolk University Women's Tennis team defeated the University of Saint Joseph on Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action by a 7-2 score.

Three players for Suffolk earned multiple victories on the afternoon as the Rams swept all three doubles contests.

Sophomore Aidiana Sagyndykova (Almaty, Kazakhstan) won her team leading fourth singles game of the season as she took the top individual contest by winning in straight sets, 6-0 and 6-2.

Senior Adrianna Garrett (Plymouth, Mass.) was victorious in the second singles game with scores of 6-2 and 6-1.

Both Garrett and Sagyndykova partnered in the top doubles contest as they were victorious 8-1 for their fourth win of the season as a duo.

Junior Rebecca Eshoo (Farmington, Conn.) won in consecutive 6-3 sets in the number three singles game to collect the victory for Suffolk. She also partnered with junior Abby Trigilio (Ipswich, Mass.) for an 8-2 win in the second doubles game of the year.

Freshmen Jacqueline Nakamura (Ranch Santa Fe, Calif.) and Isabel Rathlev (Wellesley, Mass.) took the number three partners game by an 8-3 score for Suffolk. Johanna Sitahal collected Suffolk's other victory on the afternoon as she won in consecutive 6-1 scores in the fifth singles game.

The Blue Jays recorded a pair of wins in singles competition.

Senior Emely Chenard (Meriden, Conn.) took game number four in singles play as she was victorious winning 6-4 and 6-0. Freshman Tara Smith (Palmer, Mass.) was the victor in the sixth singles match and she won 6-0 and 6-3.

Suffolk improves to a 2-4 overall record on the season and 1-1 mark in conference play. The setback leaves the Blue Jays at 5-3 on the year and 1-2 in conference play.

Both teams will be back in non-conference action later in the week. Saint Joseph will host MCLA on Monday at 4:00pm. Suffolk will host UMass Dartmouth on Tuesday at 6:00pm.
