Women's Tennis Top Wentworth 7-2

The Suffolk University Women's Tennis team collected their first win of the 2014 season with a 7-2 victory over the Wentworth Institute of Technology Leopards on Thursday evening.

Sophomore Aidiana Sagyndykova (Almaty, Kazakhstan) was a multiple winner on the evening to lead the Rams. Sagyndykova was the victor in the top singles contest as she defeated Wentworth junior Caitlin Corcoran (Brockton, Mass.) by scores of 7-5 and 6-2. Sagyndykova earlier teamed with senior Adrianna Garrett (Plymouth, Mass.) for an 8-6 victory in the top doubles contest.

Junior Rebecca Eshoo (Farmington, Conn.) was Suffolk's other multiple victor on the evening as she took the third singles game with 6-2, 6-2 wins. Eshooo also teamed with junior Abby Trigilio (Plymouth, Mass.) in the second tandem match for an 8-5 victory.

Suffolk swept all three doubles games as freshmen Isabel Rathlev (Wellesley, Mass.) and Jacqueline Nakamura (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.) took the third doubles game with a 9-7 victory. Nakamura also posted a win in the fourth singles game as she came away with a 10-3 tiebreak in the third set.

Junior Lyndsay Reese (Saco, Me.) was Suffolk's other winner on the night as she took the sixth singles game with scores of 6-2 and 6-3.

Wentworth got both their victories on the evening on the singles side. For Wentworth freshman Caitlyn Briggs (Lee, Mass.)  was a 6-3, 6-0 winner in game two of individual play.  Junior Nicole Mooney (Waterford, Conn.) captured the fifth singles game as she took a 12-10 victory in the third set to secure the victory for the Leopards.

Both teams will be back in conference action this upcoming weekend. Wentworth will travel to Salve Regina University for a 12:00pm match. Suffolk will host the University of Saint Joseph at 1:00pm.
