Nick Trautz Named Assistant Men's and Women's Tennis Coach

The Suffolk University Athletics Department announced that Nick Trautz has been hired an Assistant Coach for the Women's and Men's Tennis Programs for the 2011-12 seasons.

Trautz is a 1999 graduate of Williams College where he was a dual sport athlete for the Ephs competing in both tennis and ski. Trautz also earned his Master's Degree in Theological Studies from Harvard University Divinity School in 2011. While at Harvard, Trautz was selected for membership in the Harvard Club Tennis program, representing Harvard at USTA Tennis-On-Campus and regional club-level competition.

Off the court, Trautz has also worked at several local tennis clubs that included serving as a Staff Pro at the Weston Racquet Club in Waltham and worked previously as staff manager at the Cambridge Tennis Club.

Trautz, a former professional cross-country ski racer also served as a coach for a Junior Development Ski Program from 2003-2005. He has also worked as a personal trainer for endurance sports including cross-country skiing, marathon running and general fitness.

Trautz joins Head Tennis Coach Steve Counihan. Over the past four seasons, Suffolk University Tennis teams have combined to win four Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) championships, while Counihan has been tabbed as the league's Coach of the Year on three occasions. Suffolk's Women's Tennis team will commence the 2011 season on September 10 as they take on Anna Maria College. The Men's Tennis team will look to defend their three consecutive GNAC titles during the spring of 2012.
