With a 6-1 regular season conference record, Suffolk's women's tennis team has improved to a 9-2 overall record and earned the second seed in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference tournament.

"Ending on an eight-game win streak gives us a lot of momentum going into the playoffs", Head women's tennis coach Isaac Stahl said. The Rams play the winner of Wednesday's quarterfinal match up between Johnson & Wales and St. Joseph's CT.  Suffolk hosts its semifinal match on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 6 p.m. at the Weymouth Club.  The Rams will try to defend their  2007 GNAC title and reach the GNAC Finals scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 26 at 6 p.m. at the Weymouth Club.

This year, Simmons College handed Suffolk its only GNAC loss adding fuel to what has become a storied rivalry as Suffolk defeated Simmons for the 2007 title last year.

"Both teams are coached by Suffolk alumni, (Suffolk's Coach Isaac Stahl 05' and Simmon's Coach Robert Rosseau 84'), so it is no wonder that they standout as the two best programs in our conference", assistant coach Chris Delisi said.

The Suffolk team captains, Kaitlynn Cates and Alex Hernandez, anchor the squad with help by rookie Lauren Cameron. Playing the one, two and three singles position respectively, all remain undefeated in the GNAC.

"The team has established a very special bond that transcends tennis," Stahl said. "This makes us winners before we step on the court. It is our shared desire to perform at our best that has led to our recent success."

The GNAC tournament champion earns a berth in the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships in the spring.
