EAST BOSTON – Suffolk women's soccer used six different goal scorers and a two-save performance from Arden Rose to pick up a 6-0 Conference of New England (CNE) victory over Curry Saturday afternoon at RamFest at James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park.
Of the six student-athletes to net a goal, four were members of Suffolk's Class of 2026 in Lily Goldmann, Molly Knight, Ella Marmash and Daniela Petronio. That foursome along with their classmates Alyssa Belmont and Annabel Veale were recognized in a pre-game ceremony for Senior Day.
THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 6 | Curry 0
RECORDS: Suffolk (6-1-2, 2-1-0 CNE) | Curry (2-5-2, 0-2-1 CNE)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- On a Curry goal kick that lofted to the Colonel's 30-yard line Petronio won possession for the host with on header and Goldmann brought the rock down the right side line. The senior waited for the perfect momentum to send a center to the box where Isa Peraza was. The junior jumped at exactly the right time to head the ball right over the gloves of Lexi Sharmdon to give the Rams a 1-0 edge at the 23:36 mark.
- Suffolk doubled its advantage with 2:10 left in the first half on a scramble goal in from off Tatum Flynn's boot.
- A rebound off a free kick pushed the distance even further in the Rams' favor in the 62nd minute. Avery Porter set-up for a free kick at the 25-yard line that clinked off the post. The rebound landed in front of Sophia Vazquez who slipped a pass to Knight for a quick one-timer that made it 3-0 Suffolk.
- Suffolk's scoring did not stop there as Petronio etched her name on the scoreboard as she tucked the bounce back of Bria Baughman's blocked shot to the back of the cage to pad the margin to 4-0 with just over 15 minutes to play in the second stanza.
- Goldman put her own goal away as she sniped a shot from 20 yards out that sailed past Emma Waldeck to pad the cushion to 5-0 at the 80:25 mark.
- Marmash put an exclamation point on the Senior Day affair in the 88th minute when she found the back of the net thanks to a feed from Vivienne Murphy.
