Women’s Soccer Sees Five Earn CSC Academic All-District

COLLEGE SPORTS COMMUNICATORS RELEASE | CSC ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT 2024 

BOSTON – Five Suffolk women's soccer student-athletes have earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors including senior Charli Adams and sophomores Makena ColumbusIsa PerazaAvery Porter and Malia Young, the national organization announced Tuesday.  

Presented by College Sports Communicators (CSC), formerly known as College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) to the most accomplished student-athletes for combined academic and athletic achievements each year since 1952, this is the longest-running and most prestigious academic and athletic award for student-athletes to receive.  

All nominees must have a GPA of at least a 3.50 (on a 4.0 scale), be a starter or important reserve, and have competed in at least 90 percent of a team's competition. 

In the Rams' women's soccer record books, there have been 18 academic all-district honorees with this year's five joining the ranks. This year's recipients are all first-time honorees. 

Suffolk was joined by all its Conference of New England (CNE) counterparts – Curry (6), Endicott (6), Gordon (4), Hartford (6), Nichols (6), Roger Williams (2), Wentworth (6), Western New England (4), and the University of New England (6) -- on the list that featured 1,390 NCAA Division III women's soccer student-athletes.  

The academic accomplishments come after the fivesome helped Suffolk put together a 7-4-6 ledger that saw the team go on its best start to a season with five straight wins.  

Adams, a business analytics, information systems student-athlete that carries a 3.503 cumulative GPA, saved her best for last athletically. The midfielder from Chula Vista, California, compiled an eight-point stat line behind a team-best six helpers and one goal.  

Porter, who boasts a 3.678 GPA as a biology major, collected her second All-CNE honor in as many years. The Portland, Oregon product found a spot on the third team after providing three goals and two helpers to the Rams' 40-goal offense.  

Peraza joined Porter on the league's third-team. In the classroom the Las Vegas, Nevada native studies political science with a concentration in American politics. She has assembled a 3.688 GPA. On the pitch, the forward produced seven points on two strikes and three handouts.  

Columbus, who calls Bridgewater, Massachusetts, home, is working on her business degree with a 3.671 GPA. The midfielder added three goals to the attack, including the game-winner in the 5-0 offensive onslaught of Fitchburg State Sept. 10. 

Young, a business analytics/information systems concentration with a 3.739 GPA that hails from Wakefield, Rhode Island, rounds out the group. She was critical on the backline for Suffolk's defense that limited foes to 16 goals this year.
