Women’s Soccer Trio Earns All-CNE

CNE RELEASE

BEVELRY, Mass. – For the second straight season, Suffolk women's soccer had three student-athletes garner All-CNE distinction as Isa PerazaAvery Porter and Alex Roth all earned spots on the league's third-team, the Conference of New England (CNE) office announced Friday.

Porter scooped up her second honor in as many seasons and in her career, while Peraza and Roth received the recognition for the first time in their careers.

The three recognitions in a single season tie a record in the Ellie McDougall era and come after Suffolk compiled its best start in program history, 3-0. The season-opening win streak stretched to a 5-0-1 unbeaten streak through the first six games, the longest for the Rams since Oct. 1-22, 2011 when they went 7-0-1. Overall, the blue-and-gold put together a 4-9-3 record and went 1-6-2 in CNE contests to land just outside the six-team playoff field.

Peraza, a sophomore from Las Vegas, Nevada, was a crucial cog in the Suffolk's 40-goal offense, the team's highest scoring unit since potting 48 in 2016-17. The forward supplied two goals and three assists to share sixth on the team in points with seven. In conference play, she had one goal, the game-tying goal in a 1-1 draw against Endicott Oct. 23 and one handout.

Porter, a sophomore that brought her talents to Boston from Portland, Oregon, poured in three goals and dished out two assists for eight points, one of four Rams to hit that mark.

Roth, a native of Harrisburg, North Carolina, was a staple on Suffolk's backline as the freshman appeared in all 17 games as the cornerstone of the Rams' defensive unit that limited foes to 16 strikes, the fourth fewest let up by a conference team this season.

In addition to the all-conference awards, the league is handing out the CNE Community Service Team award, presented to a student-athlete on each squad that demonstrates a commitment to their community. Suffolk's representative is junior keeper Sophia Barker.

Since joining the CNE in 2021, Suffolk has taken home 11 All-CNE nods: one first-team, two second-team and eight third-team. Of the 11, six have come under McDougall's guidance. When combined with their Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) accolades, the Rams own 48 all-league nods including two offensive player of the year, three rookie of the year, eight first-team selections, 10 second-team nods and 18 third-team accolades.
