BEVELRY, Mass. – Gabriella Duggan of the Suffolk women's soccer team was selected as Conference of New England Rookie of the Week after helping the Rams to a 0-0-2 week, the league office announced Monday.
Duggan, a freshman defenseman from San Diego, California, was instrumental to the 1-1 draw against Endicott Wednesday, Oct. 23. Set set-up Isa Peraza's game-tying goal that helped the Rams tie the Gulls. The marker was Suffolk's first-ever against Endicott in the all-time series in program history.
The weekly award, the first of Duggan's career, marks the fifth for Suffolk this season. She is the fourth Rams' rookie to be tabbed the conference's best rookie in a seven-day span as she joined Mackenzie Metka (Sept. 16), Sinclaire Hart (Sept. 23) and Gianna Maina (Sept. 30), who have all collected the same distinction earlier this season. Arden Ferrari-Henry rounds out Suffolk's student-athletes with a weekly accolade with a CNE Defensive Player of the Week Sept. 9.
Duggan and the Rams conclude the 2024 regular-season tomorrow, Tuesday, Oct. 29 at Wentworth at 7:00 p.m.
