Women’s Soccer Edged by Hartford, 3-1

EAST BOSTON – Despite a career-high 11-save effort by Arden Ferrari-Henry, the Rams offense never found its grove and Suffolk women's soccer fell to Hartford, 3-1, Saturday afternoon in Conference of New England (CNE) action at James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 1 | Hartford 3
RECORDS: Suffolk (6-3-2, 0-3-0 CNE) | Hartford (5-3-2, 1-1-1 CNE)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Hartford struck first as Imani Jenkins easily scored on an out of possession Ferrari-Henry to give the visitors a 1-0 edge 5:14 into the contest. Rebecca Opdenbrouw centered a pass to Christina Stone, who slipped the rock through a couple Suffolk defenders to Jenkins, who picked it up, pulled the blue-and-gold keeper out of the net and easily kicked it by her.

A Rams' response came about 10 minutes later. Chelsea Fallon's shot from about 15 yards out was blocked. Isa Peraza picked up the pieces, dribbled to the left side and crossed a pass to a diving Fallon for a high-kick goal that leveled the playing field.

Opdenbrouw restored the upperhand for the Hawks as she stole the ball away from Grace Owens in five yards front of the Rams net and quickly shot to make it 2-1 Hartford with 16 minutes remaining in the first frame.

With six minutes before the intermission, the Hawks were whistled for a foul and Daniela Petronio set up for a free kick at the Hawks' 25-yard line. The junior midfielder put the kick on target and it skimmed the top of the net and went just over to send Suffolk into the locker room down one.

Jenkins put her second strike of the day away in the 53rd minute. The grad student forward dribbled through a pack of Rams' defenders for a one-on-one with Ferrari-Henry, which she capitalized on with a right-foot kick that extended the margin to 3-1 Hartford.

Suffolk's second-half chances were limited, which allowed the Hawks to walk away with the victory.
