BEVELRY, Mass. – Suffolk women's soccer's Arden Ferrari-Henry named Conference of New England's Defensive Player of the Week after backstopping the Rams to a 2-0-0 week, the league office announced.
To get the week underway, the Atkinson, New Hampshire, native turned aside two shots in the blue-and-gold's home opener 2-0 victory over UMass Dartmouth, before knocking down three saves in the 1-0 triumph over Worcester State Saturday.
Ferrari-Henry has played every minute in net for Suffolk this season to help the team get off to the best start in program history at 3-0-0. The sophomore has yet to allow a goal this year as she has denied all six shots she faced. The three straight shutouts, meanwhile, are the most cleansheets in a row since stringing three together Sept. 21-30, 2021.
The weekly award is a first for Ferrari-Henry and marks the first weekly accolade for the blue-and-gold since Klaudia Rushi scooped up the conference's offensive player of the week feat Oct. 10, 2023. Ferrari-Henry is the first Ram to be named the league's best defensive player over a seven-day stretch since Sophia Barker earned the title Sept. 26, 2022.
Ferrari-Henry and the Rams aim to keep their winning ways going tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 10 when they entertain Fitchburg State at East Boston Memorial Park's James A. Sartori Stadium at 7:00 p.m.
