Women’s Soccer Earns Seventh Seed in CCC Tournament

CCC CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL | 2023 CCC WOMEN'S SOCCER TOURNAMENT BRACKET

BEVERLY, Mass. – Suffolk women's soccer secured the seventh seed in the upcoming 2023 Commonwealth Coast Conference Women's Soccer Tournament, the league office announced following the conclusion of regular-season conference play late Tuesday evening.

Finishing the CCC regular-season calendar with a 2-5-1 league ledger, the Rams garnered seven points to lock up the seventh seed, which sends Suffolk to second-seed Roger Williams for the CCC Quarterfinals this Saturday, Oct. 28 for a 3 p.m. kick-off.

Suffolk will be making its second trip to the CCC tournament in the program's four-year history in the league, first since 2021. The first-ever postseason run in the Ellie McDougall era marks the squad's 10th overall conference postseason run in the squad's 17-year history.

The Rams enter the CCC field as the seventh seed for the first time. It is the first time that Suffolk is a league's postseason seventh seed since 2016, when the blue-and-gold advanced to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Semifinals. Suffolk has been the seventh seed in a conference tournament three times, including this season, and boasts a 1-2 record when competing as No. 7.

To make it to the CCC semifinals for the first time in program history Suffolk will have to take down second seed Roger Williams, who went 5-1-2 (17 points) versus conference counterparts and 10-6-4 overall.

The Rams and Hawks met in in the regular-season finale Tuesday, Oct. 24. RWU shutout the blue-and-gold, 2-0. The foes will clash in the conference tournament for the first time. Suffolk is 1-2-0 all-time against the Hawks. The blue-and-gold won the inaugural meeting, 2-1, Oct. 26, 2021, but has slipped in back-to-back meetings against Roger Williams and have yet to find the win column versus RWU under McDougall's guidance.

The victor of Saturday's showdown punches its ticket to eh semifinals Wednesday, Nov. 1 and will face 2023 CCC regular-season champion and tournament top seed Western New England (9-4-3, 6-1-1 CCC).

The other pair of quarterfinals outings, feature No. 5 UNE at No. 4 Gordon at 7 p.m, and No. 6 Curry at No. 3 Endicott at 12 p.m.

The Rams have compiled a 3-6 record in the quarterfinals (3-5 GNAC / 0-1 CCC) in its nine appearances and have advanced to the semis three times the last in 2016.
