Women’s Soccer Lands Six on CSC Academic All-District Team

BOSTON – Six Suffolk women's soccer student-athletes have earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors, including senior Klaudia Rushi, junior Alicia Bibi and sophomores Chelsea FallonKylie FlynnGrace Owens and Kylie Perron

Awarded by College Sports Communicators (CSC), formerly known as College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) to the most accomplished student-athletes for combined academic and athletic achievements each year since 1952, this is the longest-running and most prestigious academic and athletic award for student-athletes to receive. 

The 2022 Academic All-District® Women's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC), recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.  All nominees must have a GPA of at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), be a starter or important reserve, and have competed in at least 50 percent of a team's competition. 

In the Rams' women's soccer record books, there have been seven academic all-district distinctions with this year's six honorees joining Alexandra Nagri '18 with the recognition.  The six accolades in one season sets a Suffolk University Athletics record across its 19 varsity sports. Suffolk now has 30 academic all-district distinctions in its history from CSC dating back to 2004, 19 of which have come over the last seven seasons. 

Suffolk was joined by Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) counterparts Curry (1), Gordon (3), University of New England (4) and Wentworth (2) on the list. The six Rams are the most individuals by a of CCC program on the list of 547 NCAA Division III women's soccer players to take home the feat in 2022. 

Rushi carried a 3.503 GPA and will graduate this may with a degree in marketing. The midfielder from Beverly, Massachusetts, played and started all 16 matches this season. The captain paced Suffolk's scoring with a team-best 13 points behind six goals and one helper assists.

A political science major, Bibi holds a 3.923 GPA. A junior captain defenseman that calls Marlborough, Massachusetts home, she started and played all 16 games on the Rams backline.   

A sophomore who hails from Sutton, Massachusetts, Owens owns a 3.763 GPA, while majoring in psychology. She has been a staple on Suffolk's defense since she arrived in Beantown a year ago, playing in and starting all 33 matches since she put on a blue-and-gold sweater. 

A Norfolk, Massachusetts product, Perron a sophomore defenseman holds a 3.794 GPA as a biology concentrator. On the pitch, she appeared in 16 matches this year and notched the first points of her collegiate career with one goal and one helper.  

Flynn, a sophomore that brought her talents to Boston from Stoughton, Massachusetts, has a near perfect GPA of 3.975 as a finance major. The midfielder, who started all 16 games, supplied three points to the Rams offense this season behind one marker and one handout. 

Fallon, a sophomore from Saint Johns, Florida, rounds out the group. The midfielder holds a 3.675 GPA as a psychology major. Athletically, she played all 16 games, appeared in the starting line-up 14 times and registered six points on an evenly divided stat line of two goals and two assists.

All six Rams now advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.
